Opening Weekend 2024

For many the cycling season officially gets started when the racing gets started in Belgium. The opening weekend includes Omloop Het Niewsblad on Saturday 24th February and Kuurne Brussels Kuurne on Sunday 25th February. At Sporta Bike+ we absolutely love Belgium and riding on the cobbles so we are going to kick off our classics season early and below is our plan

Friday 23rd February - early Le Shuttle crossing and drive to Ghent. We will meet at the hotel and then ride to Oudenaarde via the Oude Kwaremont - we could also have an early season go on the Paterberg and/or Koppenberg too?

On Saturday 24th we will ride in the morning before heading into Ghent to watch the start of the Omloop Het Niewsblad. If group members want we can then drive towards Geraardsbergen to watch them on the Muur.

On Sunday 25th we will take on the Omloop Het Niewsblad sportive before heading home in the evening. Sportive entry is not included in this offer as entries are not open yet.

In the US, Black Friday is a term used for the day after Thanksgiving and associated with a weekend of shopping and present buying in the lead up to Christmas. In the UK, Black Friday was originally a term coined by the emergency services for the last Friday before Christmas when many workers have Christmas parties and over indulge.
