Cycling through stories of heroism and sacrifice
Loop of Flanders
1st - 5th July 2026
The region of Flanders is steeped in history - and this trip is designed with the cycling historian in mind. We will sample the best and most famous roads of the region, whilst also taking in historical landmarks and cities rich in culture.

We are mindful that many of our trips involve plane travel which drives up both the price and carbon footprint. This trip allows guests to arrive by train or car and have an amazing adventure at a sensible price. It is difficult to over state our love for cycling in Belgium and we really look forward to sharing it with you.

Route Highlights

Day 1 - 60km - Lille to Oudenaarde
This routes is largely a relaxed pedal until it isn't ...............Just prior to our hotel guests have the option of the famous Kwaremont,Paterberg double to get their initial dose of Belgian cobbles

Day 2 - 104km - Oudenaarde to Ghent
A really beautiful ride starting out in the Flemish Ardennes and a couple of climbs including the famous Taienberg with the unique statue of Tom Boonens legs at the summit, then we head to the famous Murr of Gerardsbergen before a relaxed and fun ride through Ninove and onto Ghent

Day 3 - 96km - Ghent to Bruges
A much flatter and cobble free day as we head NE to the Dutch coast line and then head west to Knokke before heading into Bruges along the canal from Sluis via Damme. This is a really lovely day out on beautiful cycle lanes and quiet roads - the only real challenge might be the headwind on the coast

Day 4 - 110km - Bruges to Lille

This is a ride for the ages and a real highlight of our cycling year. Wwe head SW from Bruges and on to the Menin Gate at Ypres via the sombre WW1 memorial at Tynecot. After lunch in Ypres we tackle the Kemmelberg which is a feature of the Ghent Wevelgem Spring classic and also a site of WW1 significanc. From there we have the last 20km on to Lille where we should finsih late afternoon

The Cycling
We will welcome you into Lille on Wedneday lunchtime, we will pack the van and get bikes ready before heading into Belgium. We start in style with a Tour of Flanders theme, ending up in Oudenaarde via various cobbled climbs and iconic roads

Our first night is Oudenaarde, the next day we will have time to visit the RVV museum and coffee shop before heading to Ghent on a circuitous route via Geraardsbergen. Our second night is in Ghent where you will have the evening at leisure to explore this beautiful city and maybe sample some local beer and chocolate.

On Friday we head north to Bruges, today there is an option of a direct 50km into Bruges, or to head out to the Dutch and Belgium coastline before dropping south into Brugges with a route of 110km.

Our last day in the saddle is Saturday and it is a very special day as we head back to Lille via the beautful town of Ypres, taking in the Kemmelberg and a number of WW! sites of special interest.

We then have last evening in Lille before heading home on the Sunday morning.
