5 Weeks, 5 countries

Since the beginning of May we have had trips visit Provence, Mallorca, Denia, Tuscany, Bruges, and Amsterdam as well as a UK weekender in the Cotswold's.

In short the Spring period has been amazing - visiting so many great destinations with over 120 guests has been a real privilege. These destinations and trips are so different that we thought we should break them down, just in case it inspires future travellers:

Provence

Provence and cycling are old bed fellows. Many visits to the region are dominated by the bald mountain and conquering Mont Ventoux (maybe 3 times), but there is so much more to enjoy in the region. This May we stayed in Avignon, this meant that Mont Ventoux was in reach, but could also access the Luberon Valley and the beautiful village of Gordes, whilst also heading west to the Pont du Gard. This region is culturally rich and planning routes is made easier by the number of beautiful way points and places to visit. We are super pleased to have planned and delivered a trip that incorporated Mont Ventoux, but did not live in its shadow!

Denia

We need say no more about our love for cycling on the Costa Blanca, but what we can say is that the weather in May is ideal and with so many UK cyclists flocking to Mallorca, the roads were really quiet. Furthermore, the wet early Spring meant that the region was looking more green and colourful than we have ever seen it!

Mallorca

Mallorca is a great place to ride your bike and if you have never been we think it is definitely a destination to tick off. May in Mallorca is often very busy with cyclists. This means that the atmosphere is fabulous, but you mus be mindful when planning visits to the 'showpiece' climbs.

Tuscany

Tuscany is a special place to visit and it is even more special to experience it by bike. We arrived the day of stage 9 into Siena which was a privilege to witness. The white roads play a part in our trips, but there is so much more to the region. The hill top towns of San Gimignano and Volterra are stunning and the Chianti region is beautiful. The beauty of the region mean that guests are happy (ish) to pack in lots of meters ascent as there is barely any flat in the region! We had an absolute blast hosting a large group and it really was a special privilege to ride these roads and take in the breathtaking views.

London to Amsterdam

Our first point to point challenge of the year exceeded all our expectations. What this route lacks in hills it makes up for in awe inspiring infrastructure, beautiful countryside and a real epic feel! London to Dover is a great bike ride, but the real adventure starts oce you cross the channel. Day 2 from Calais to Bruges starts with big skies and quiet roads and moves on to include beautiful bike paths along the canal and then into the wonderful city of Brugges via the odd Flandrien cobblestone. Day 3 is bewildering as we crossed the boarder into Holland and traversed the extraordinary roads of Zeeland and onto The Hague via Rotterdam. We were extremely grateful for the tailwind, but I cannot eloquently express the awe inspiring bike paths and roads of this region. The final push to Amsterdam featured more immaculate bike paths, lots of fields of flowers and brick roads in the most cycling friendly nation we have ridden in. We are so excited about running future L2A trips - it was EPIC!!
